The GreenGate Philosophy - "We believe the simple, everyday moments in life can be the most memorable and cherished."

GreenGate was founded in Denmark by Jesper and Mona Christiansen in 1993. The idea for each of GreenGate's patterns comes from an archive of antique, hand painted designs from 19th century France. These designs are then developed to fit the trends of the coming season, and to reflect the Nordic background of the founders and designers. Each summer and winter a new collection is released, offering beautiful products for your home in stoneware, cotton, bamboo, melamine, and tin. Stoneware items are all hand finished, so small variations in size, shape and colour may occur. Old and new designs, florals, spots, stripes and pastels - all mix and match beautifully to create special moments at home every day. Which pattern will you choose for your morning coffee or afternoon tea today?

Lillian's Cottage was created to share my love of GreenGate's beautiful homeware with New Zealanders. I treasure my GreenGate collection and hope you will love using each piece you purchase, too. 

Lillian's Cottage is named after my grandmother, who I think would have enjoyed using GreenGate, too  - possibly for hosting afternoon tea on her farmhouse veranda, overlooking her rose garden...
